The Mobility Thing Everyone Gets Wrong
Mobility or lack of mobility isn’t a purely physical problem.
It’s also a neurological problem.
Your central nervous system dictates how well you move, and how well each joint moves. If you have a certain joint that doesn’t function the way you want it to, it’s because of neurological signals towards your CNS.
Your CNS’s main job is to protect you. It doesn’t want to put your body in a position where it could get hurt.
Lack of mobility can be caused by all sorts of things, like tightness, weakness, or years of bad posture.
When that happens your CNS sends signals to your body saying “hey don’t move like that it’s going to hurt.”
So when you want to realign or reset a joint or a series of joints to have better mobility you can’t just address the physical component.
You also need to rewire the neurological pathways.
You need to create the range of motion with a stretch, then you need to reinforce the range of motion with a strength movement.
You need to reset your mobility then you need to show your CNS that this new range of motion is safe.
Here’s how you do that.
