3 Ways to Beat Neck Pain

Your neck can hurt for about 7,000 reasons.

From the way you breathe to the way you sleep, to the way you sit at your desk (or kitchen table) all day.

Discomfort in your neck can ruin your whole day. It makes you feel sluggish, tired and annoyed.

Here are 3 ways you can pretty quickly beat neck discomfort.

All you’ll need is a foam roller, a lacrosse ball and a barbell.



1. Foam Roller Neck Reset


Place a foam roller right under the natural curve in your neck. Take a deep breath and turn your head side to side.

Basically just look from one side of the room to the other. Take your time and go slowly.

The goal here is to reset the curve in your neck in an easy way. Don’t be surprised if you get some cracks.

2. Trap Mash

No, this isn’t some crappy EDM song where a DJ with no talent goes “WOOMPA WOOMPA WOOMPA”

It’s a self myofascial release technique. It basically just means you’re going to use a lacrosse ball to beat the crap out of your traps to get some relief.

All you need to do is place a lacrosse ball between a wall and your upper, then lower traps. Put some tension into the ball and move up and down and side to side like a bear scratching it’s back on a tree.

The goal here is to get some relief ala a massage.

3. Barbell Scalene Release

You know when you rub the side of your neck? When it feels right under your ear?

Those muscle are called scalenes and they can be a real pain to release.

This one is better explained with video so skip to the 3 minute mark.

Your neck is complicated but it’s made of muscles just like every other part of your anatomy, and if you can pinpoint them release those muscles you can pretty quickly beat neck discomfort.
